How to Make a Paper Christmas Tree Topper
The rustic beauty of a homemade Christmas can be yours with the addition of a simple tree topper you made yourself. This angel, similar to one found on the HGTV website, is crafted from a single paper plate. You can dress her up in your finest foil wrapping paper or leave her pure white gown. Either way, you will love the look on your Christmas tree.
Things You'll Need
- Paper plate
- Pencil
- Wrapping paper
- Spray glue
- Scissors
- Staples
- Toilet tissue roll
- Gold paint
- Decorative trim
- Craft glue
Instructions
-
Draw the Angel
-
1
Draw an angel shape onto the bottom of the paper plate using the lower half as the dress and the upper to form the wings and head. Use the circle formed by the plate as the bottom of the skirt and the side of the wings.
-
2
About half way up the plate, draw a line from a point near the center to the edge. Leave enough space in the center to create the body and head. Use this line to form both the top of the skirt and the bottom of the wings.
-
-
3
At the top of the plate, extend your circle around to form the wings dipping in the middle to create the angel's body and head. You can get as fancy here as you like but a simple round head will do.
Cut and Form the Angel
-
4
Cut out your angel shape, spray with adhesive glue, and place on the back of your wrapping paper. Cut around the original shape.
-
5
Paint the head with gold craft paint and affix decorative trim to the back with craft glue to form a halo.
-
6
Bring the two ends of the skirt together and staple.
-
7
Paint the toilet roll with the gold craft paint and allow to dry.
-
8
Place the empty toilet roll inside the angel form and staple the back of the skirt to the roll. Your angel is now ready to top your tree.
