Microsoft Exchange Server is the application many large companies use to allow full network sharing and management of both Microsoft Outlook and its individual users. The Contacts folder can become a very valuable item for many Outlook users, as they may have compiled all the contact information for dozens or even hundreds of people. Accidentally deleting these contacts can be near catastrophic in some instances. Fortunately, there is a method for recovering contact information for those users on an Exchange Server.
Exit out of your Outlook application. Go to your Windows Desktop, and click on the \"Start\" button. Click on \"Run,\" and type \"regedit\" into the text box that appears. If you are using Windows Vista, after clicking on the Start button, type \"regedit\" into the Search text box. The registry editor will open.
Go to the following location within the computer registry:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options and then click on the \"Edit\" menu.
Select \"New,\" and then click on \"DWORD Value.\" Type \"DumpsterAlwaysOn\" and set the \"DWORD\" value so that it displays \"1.\" Click \"OK,\" and exit out of the registry editor.
Restart your Outlook program. Select your \"Deleted Items\" folder. Click on \"Tools,\" and then click \"Recovered Deleted Items.\" Your contacts will be recovered.
