How to Attach Pictures to Layouts in Scrapbooking
One of the most important parts of any scrapbook layout is the photos. When adding photos to your pages, it is important to consider how you are going to crop the photo and ensure that it is mounted straight and secure. Taking these things into consideration will improve the craftsmanship and composition of your finished scrapbook layouts.

Cropping
-
1
Measure the dimensions of the area where you would like to mount the photo. If you are mounting the photo on a mat, measure the mat then subtract 1/2 inch from each side.
-
2
Cut a piece of scrap paper to the size of the finished photo.
-
-
3
Use the scrap paper to figure out which portion of the photo you would like to use. Move the paper around until the part of the photo you are using is under the paper.
-
4
Trace around the scrap piece of paper with a marker. Use the line as a cutting guide, cutting just inside the line so that it is not visible on the finished photo.
Mounting
-
5
Line up the photo where it will be mounted. Make sure the photo is aligned straight and exactly where you want it.
-
6
Hold down the bottom of the photo with your fingertips. While holding the photo securely in place, lift up the top edge of the photo and use one finger on the same hand to hold it away from the paper.
-
7
Apply adhesive to the back of the photo along the top edge.
-
8
Release the top edge of the photo. While still holding the bottom of the photo in place, press down along the top edge of the photo to secure it to the layout.
-
9
Turn the paper 180 degrees and repeat this process to secure the bottom edge of the photo.

Tips & Warnings
For large photos, use additional adhesive along the sides of the photo and in the middle to ensure that the photo is secure.
Use an adhesive made specifically for use with photos to avoid warping from drying glue or yellowing from acid content.
