How to Play ISO Games on a Mac

ISO games essentially are virtual copies of a game disc that have been placed on a computer's hard drive. Most ISOs are created on PC computers and are incompatible with Macintosh machines. For those ISOs that are compatible, however, the Macintosh offers an extremely simple, streamlined process for mounting—accessing the virtual disc as if it were a physical one—and playing an ISO game.

  • Locate the ISO game you wish to play.

  • Double-click the ISO file. Mac OS-X automatically will mount the ISO file and place a link to it on your desktop.

  • Click the link on the desktop to access the ISO file. From here, you can use it as if it were a physical CD in a physical drive, including installing and playing games from it.
