      Advertise your website by placing the web address on the back of your business card or by making fliers that give information about your organization. The more people who know about your website, the more visitors you have and the more likely you will be to receive donations.

      Visit the PayPal website (see Resources) and sign up for a PayPal account. Verify your PayPal account by providing information about your primary bank account. The verification process is in place to prevent fraudulent transfers from happening within your PayPal account. You will then receive instructions for how to link your bank account to your PayPal account.

      Once your account has been verified, click on the "Merchant Service" button on the PayPal website. Click on the "Create Buttons" section and then click on the section that shows you how to add a "Donate" button to your website. You will get a special code to install on your website. You can do this easily by adding the code into the widgets section of your website on the administration page.

      Check that your "Donate" button works by sending a test donation to your account. The money should show up in your PayPal account immediately. Once you have verified that you have the button set up correctly, you can begin to receive donations online.

  • Always enter the PayPal website directly though its home page. Avoid getting scammed by never clicking on email links to PayPal.
