How to Make Sachets
Sachets are small fabric pouches, similar in size to a bean bag, containing scented potpourri or other fragrant items. They are frequently placed in dresser drawers, closets or near bedding to add fragrance. The word sachet has a French origin and means "sac," or small bag or packet. Sachets make nice gifts and can be placed around your home to add a bit of scent.

1
Use a sewing machine for quicker sewing. Create a seam for the top of your sachet bag. With the inside of the muslin laying face up, fold in one edge of fabric a quarter inch and press with an iron to keep the seam in place. Use your sewing machine to stitch a seam an eighth inch from the fold.

Lay the fabric seam side up. Fold it in half so the raw side of the material is facing out. Sew the two raw sides a quarter inch in from the edge. Turn the bag right side out and use the pencil eraser to gently poke out the corners.

Tulle is a lightweight, opaque fabric that almost looks like netting. Fold the tulle in half and sew the raw sides a quarter inch from the edge. Turn the tulle bag right side out. This will be used to create an inner sac for the potpourri.

Fragranced potpourri comes in many scents. Fill the tulle with a scented potpourri of your choice. Use one piece of ribbon to tie the tulle bag closed. Slide the potpourri-filled tulle bag into the muslin sac. Use the second piece of ribbon to tie the muslin sac closed.
