Although QuickTime is the default media player on Mac computers it is still possible to use the program on Windows XP. The default movie format on QuickTime is .mov, however some programs on Windows XP do not recognize the .mov file format. In order to correct this issue you can convert the file to MPEG using the preinstalled Windows Movie Maker video-editing program.
