Although many counter tops are a standard height of around 36 inches above the floor, this height can vary by a few inches. Because of this, Kenmore dishwashers--as well as many other brands of dishwashers--include adjustable legs. These legs rest underneath the dishwasher and can be extended or shortened to help ensure that the top of the dishwasher presses firmly against the bottom of the kitchen counter.
Things You'll Need
Lift up on the front of the dishwasher. Instead of four adjustable legs, Kenmore dishwashers have two adjustable legs. They are both located in the front.
Place a prop underneath the front right side of the dishwasher. You can use something like the head of a screwdriver as your prop.
Use your hand to screw or unscrew the leg at the front right of the appliance to adjust the length. Turn the leg clockwise to make the leg shorter. Turn the leg counter-clockwise to make it longer.
Remove the screwdriver or other prop from the front right side and place it under the front left side.
Turn the screw clockwise to make the leg shorter or counter-clockwise to make it longer. Remove the screwdriver from the front left side.
Place a level on the top of the dishwasher door. If the level indicates that one side is not even with the other, repeat the previous steps until the two front legs are even.
Tips & Warnings
- Press down on the dishwasher from the top on the left and the right side to make sure the appliance does not wobble due to uneven legs.
