How to Do Dell Diagnostics on a Desktop PC
The Dell Diagnostics utility runs a series of tests on your desktop computer to check for problems with your RAM, motherboard, CPU, hard drives and more. This utility is most frequently run when there is a problem that a Dell technician is attempting to fix. If you need to run this utility, it is contained on the Dell Drivers and Utilities CD that was included with your computer.

Place the Dell Drivers and Utilities CD into your computer.

Restart the computer and press the "F12" key as the computer boots.

Choose the "IDE CD-ROM Device" selection from the boot menu and press the "Enter" key.

Press the "1" key and then press the "2" key to open the Dell Diagnostics utility.

Select the "Run the 32 bit Dell Diagnostics" option to launch the Diagnostics utility. Once this utility has started, it will run a series of tests on your computer. You can relay the results to a Dell technician to help diagnose issues with your computer.
