Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height and width of each wall. Buy strips of 1-inch by 2-inch (height by width) pinewood in lengths according to your measurements. Place the strips against the wall in a vertical orientation, spaced evenly at between 16- and 24-inch intervals.

    • 2

Hold each strip in place. Drill holes through the wood and into the brick wall using a small-diameter masonry bit. Insert masonry anchors through the predrilled holes in the wood and into the brick wall.

    • 3

Inspect the brick wall for any open spaces. Seal them in the brickwork and seal any leaks around the windows with caulk. Insert a sheet of foam insulation between the brick wall and the vinyl siding.

    • 4

Attach all the trim, J-channels and corner posts. Cut the pieces to fit the sides and corners of your house. Nail in the trim pieces and J-channels. Make sure that the trim is nailed into the top of the slots of each piece that is meant for nails.

    • 5

Install the vinyl siding. Start with the bottom piece and work your way up each wall. Align the bottom piece with the bottom portion of the wall of your house. Attach the bottom piece of siding to the wood strips you installed in Step 2.

    • 6

Insert the next piece of siding into the bottom piece, and continue inserting each successive piece of siding into the one below it until you reach the top of the wall. Nail each piece of siding into the wood strips using a hammer and 2-inch nails.

Tips & Warnings

  • Vinyl siding tends to expand in warm weather, so leave 1/32-inch space between each nail head and piece of siding so that it has room to expand without buckling.
