How to Reset the Sync History

The latest versions of the Mac OS X operating system, all come with the iSync application automatically installed. The iSync program handles a variety of tasks on Apple computers, including iPhone and iPod connections and the synchronization of calendars and contacts across multiple computers. If one of your mobile devices or syncing services is not working properly, you can use iSync to reset your computer's sync history.

Things You'll Need

  • Mac running OS X 10.4 or later
  • Open a new "Finder" window by clicking on the "Dock" icon.

  • Go to the "Applications" section of your Mac hard drive.

  • Double-click on the "iSync" icon.

  • Go to "iSync" in the menu bar at the top of the screen and select "Preferences."

  • Make sure the "Enable syncing on this computer" option is checked.

  • Click on the "Reset Sync History" button at the bottom of the preferences window. Then confirm your decision to reset your computer's sync history when the dialog box opens. All sync data on your computer will now be erased, and devices and services will begin new initial syncs.
