How to Create a Mailing List in Gmail
Gmail became popular with the Internet community when it announced groundbreaking features never before implemented in personal email. Users began to experience their personal email in a new way with features ranging from intuitive labels to gigabytes worth of storage space. Utilizing the different features of the contact list meant users could create impromptu mailing lists and simultaneously reach out to several friends or family members by simply selecting the name of the group.

Log in to your Gmail account and click the "Contacts" link in the left window pane.

Click the create group icon represented by two avatars and a "+" to create a new list. Enter a name for your new group when prompted.

Add contacts to the new group by clicking "All Contacts" and browsing for the individuals you wish to place in the group. Click the name of the individual you wish to add to the new group, and using the group drop-down box in the right window pane, select the newly created group. Repeat this process until you have filled your group with the individuals you want to add to the mailing list.

Click "Compose Mail" to compose a new email from the main Gmail window. Begin typing the name of the group and Gmail will auto-complete the entry you are typing. Select the entry from the drop-down box and send your email as you normally would.

Tips & Warnings
To quickly add names to your new group, click on the link for the group you wish to add to and type the name of the individuals you want to add in the search box.
