Clear your browser's cookies and history.

Whenever you visit a website, the history of that website visit is saved in your browser for a pre-determined length of time. In addition, many websites place small tracking scripts on your browser called "cookies," which help them identify you in later visits. If you are concerned for your privacy and want to clear this data from your machine, you can do so quite easily.

Instructions

  1. In Firefox

    • 1

      Open Firefox. Click "Tools" and "Options."

      Click on the "Privacy" tab, the "History" tab and "Clear History Now" to clear the history from the browser.

      Click the "Cookies" sub-tab and "Clear Cookies Now" to clear the cookies from the browser.

    In Internet Explorer

    • 4

      Open Internet Explorer. Click the "Tools" menu and "Internet Options."

      Click on the "General" tab, "Clear History" and "OK."

    • 6

      Click "Clear Cookies" and "OK." The history and cookies are deleted.

    In Chrome

    • 7

      Open Google Chrome.

    • 8

      Click the wrench icon.

    • 9

      Click "Options," select the "Under the Hood" tab, and click "Clear browsing data..." and "Clear browsing data" again in the pop-up window.
