How to Display Old Fishing Lures
Fishing lures such as spoons and plugs have been used for many years to lure and catch a wide variety of fresh and saltwater game fish. Collecting old lures is a hobby for some individuals, as some are particularly rare and valuable. Regardless of the economic value, many people enjoy displaying their lure collection for others to see. A quality display can protect as well as display your old lure collection and may be easily assembled with only a few items.
Things You'll Need
- Shadow box
- 1/4 inch cork board
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Straight pins

Place the shadow box on a sturdy work surface with the glass side down. Remove the back from the shadow box. Turn or remove any retaining clips so the back can be accessed.

Measure the back of the shadow box. Subtract 1/4 inch from the length and width of the measurement and transfer the measurements to a 1/4-inch thick piece of cork board. The reduction in size is to allow the cork to fit inside the frame of the shadow box when assembled.

Cut the cork board with sharp scissors. Apply a few drops of hot glue along the edge of the cork board and center it on the inside of the shadow box back. Press the cork board firmly in place and allow the glue to set before continuing.

Arrange the lures on the cork board and secure with straight pins or hot glue them in place. Straight pins can also be used to offset the lures from the back to provide dimension to the display.

Place the back with the lures onto the frame of the shadow box and secure with the retaining clips provided.

Tips & Warnings
Remove the back and make any adjustments to the lures before placing on display.
