The Harper driveway sealer brush makes sealing your driveway easier.

The Harper driveway sealant brush is an 18-inch wide, stiff-bristled device used to spread sealant, asphalt and other liquid coatings onto the surface of driveways. The short, stiff bristles move the sealant evenly over the surface while working it into any small crevices. In addition, the Harper driveway sealant brush has a squeegee attached to its top that is used to remove excess sealant from the driveway surface. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Fill any holes and cracks in the driveway that are larger than 1/4 inch, using a concrete or asphalt patching material that comes in a tube. Insert the tube into a caulk gun. Cut off the tube's applicator end at an angle, using a utility knife. Squeeze the caulk gun's trigger to dispense a bead of material over each crack. Scrape a putty knife over the crack to remove excess material. Allow the patch material to dry for the amount of time recommended on the product packaging.

    • 2

Sweep the entire surface of the driveway with a broom to remove dirt and debris. Do not use the Harper driveway sealant brush for this, as it will contaminate the brush with dirt.

    • 3

Spray the entire surface of the driveway with a garden hose to wet it.

    • 4

Apply a degreasing cleaner to any oil spills on the driveway. Scrub the cleaner in with a scrub brush, and rinse the driveway thoroughly using a garden hose. Allow the driveway to air-dry for at least one hour.

    • 5

Turn over the tub of seal coat so that it rests on its top. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes so that the sediment stuck to the bottom floats to the top. Turn the seal coat tub back over, and remove the lid. Mix the solution thoroughly, using a paint stirrer.

    • 6

Pour approximately 1/4 of the tub of sealant onto one corner of the driveway.

    • 7

Spread the sealer onto the driveway using the Harper driveway sealant brush, until all of the sealant is worked into the concrete or asphalt. When the brush begins to create streaks on the driveway, pour additional sealer on the driveway. Spread it with the brush on a new section. Continue until the entire driveway is covered in sealant.

    • 8

Examine the driveway for any pooled areas of sealant. Turn the Harper brush over so that the squeegee sits on the driveway surface. Move the squeegee over the surface to spread out the pooled areas of sealant.

    • 9

Rinse the Harper driveway sealant brush thoroughly with the garden hose to remove as much of the sealant as possible. Pour paint thinner onto the brush bristles, allowing it to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse the brush with a hose, and allow it to air dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Only patch and seal a driveway when the outdoor temperature is above 50 degrees.

  • Allow the driveway to dry for 24 to 48 hours before walking or driving on it.
