How to Make Free Greeting Cards to Print

Send a greeting card that you can make and print yourself.

It's easy to make free, high-quality greeting cards on your home computer that you can print out on your printer. Free greeting-card web sites offer the option to print the cards that you design. Choose from cards for any occasion or make one for no occasion at all. You can give the card your personal "stamp," print it and send it off by postal mail.

• Card stock or heavy-bond printer paper
• Colored printer ink

Instructions

1. 

   Choose the right printable card for the occasion.

   Find a web site that offers the style of card you like. Sites such as Greetings Island and PrintFree.com offer an array of cards, including cards for birthdays, anniversaries and supportive "I'm here for you" messages. (See References 1 & 2)

2. 

   Add personal messages to printable greeting cards.

   Click on the type of greeting card you want to send; then choose the card you want to personalize . When you open a card on Greetings Island, for example, clicking on the card opens the "personalize" page. (See Reference 1)

3. 

   Customize greeting cards with font variables.

   Click on each page you want to customize. Select font, color and size. Some sites, such as PrintFree.com, offer canned greetings for your convenience. Or you can write your own. (See Reference 1)

4. 

   Print greeting cards on your home printer.

   Select the "Print" button when you are happy with your work. Choose the size of paper and type of fold you desire. When you choose paper size on PrintFree.com, your printer function menu opens. Make sure you have paper in your printer and print your card.

• PrintFree.com cards can be customized only by using an Internet Explorer browser.
