How to Open QXP Files

QuarkXpress, page layout and design software, uses QXP files for projects. Quark has been using QXP project files since version 6 of the software program. QXP holds all of the information of the project, even if the project contains more than one design page. If you receive a QXP file and want to see the project inside, open it with the QuarkXpress program. The company offers both trial and full versions of the software to individuals and businesses.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install QuarkXPress version 6 or newer from the QuarkXPress official website.

    • 2

Start QuarkXPress by double-clicking on the icon on your computer's desktop.

    • 3

Click "Other Projects" on the QuarkXPress welcome screen under "Open a Recent Project." If the welcome screen doesn't appear when you start up the software, go to the File menu and click "Open." Navigate to where the QXP file is stored on your computer. Click the name and click "Open" to load the project file into the program.

    • 4

View the project design in the main window of the software. Add to the QuarkXPress project by clicking buttons for design elements such as the Text Content Tool or the Picture Content Tool in the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen.

    • 5

Save any changes to your QXP project file by clicking the File menu and choosing "Save." If you'd like to save the changes to a new file name, choose "Save As" instead.
