How to Avoid IP Address Tracking When Registering Software
Perhaps you prefer to keep your IP address anonymous so that hackers can't get to your personal details. Maybe you don't want to use your real details when registering for software. Whatever the case, if you want to avoid giving your IP address there is a simple way to do it that's completely free.

1
Find a site that provides IP masking. Some of the ones that you might consider are IPShade.com, IPHider.org and HideMyAss.com. As of 2010 all of these programs were free and did not require you to download any software.

2
Use IpHider.org. Use this program by simply typing in the URL of the software registration site that you are going to. This site works by using a proxy server to navigate to the site that you are going to. What this means is that the server goes to the site and shows you what is on the site. This way your IP information isn't seen by the server of that site you are registering on.

Use IPShade.org. This works similarly to IP Hider, but allows for a bit more customization. You can remove images, as well as meta tags and the title from the pages that you are viewing. Also, you can prevent the storage of cookies on your browser, which means your browser won't remember any log-in details that you put in previously.

Use HideMyAss.com. This is also a proxy server that will make you appear as if you are coming from Texas. Like the other services this is free, but they also have a VPN (virtual private network) that costs $11.52 per month as of 2010. The advantage with the paid service is that it not only encrypts your Web browser but any application on your computer that uses the Internet. So programs such as Skype, any online games or instant messaging applications will also be protected.
