Locate the main nest once you notice damage to surrounding trees and shrubs. Like most ants, town ants live in mounds, but unlike other ants these habitats are quite large and should be easy to spot.

Purchase an insecticide that is powerful enough to kill this species of ant. Because town ants live in such large groups, ant bait products won't be effective. A popular liquid insecticide that claims to kill town ants is Conquer Insecticide and a popular spray is Orthene Turf, Tree & Ornamental Spray.
