How to Clean Brass Outside Door Handles

Clean brass door handles with salt and vinegar.

Brass provides a durable material that does not readily deteriorate in quality or appearance. Timeless and elegant, this material is often used for both interior and exterior door handles. While the door handles require little maintenance, a regular cleaning will remove outdoor elements, fingerprints and residue, leaving the brass door handles looking clean and polished.

Things You'll Need

• Nylon scouring pad
• Vinegar
• Salt
• Bowl
• Soft cloth

Instructions

1. Pour 1 cup vinegar and 1 tbsp. salt into a dish. The salt produces a grainy cleaning texture while the vinegar cleans and disinfects.

2. Dip a nylon scouring pad into the mixture. Scrub the brass door handles.

3. Moisten the edge of a cleaning cloth with water. Wipe the brass handles to remove any vinegar and salt solution.

4. Wipe the brass clean with the dry side of a cleaning cloth, removing any remaining moisture and pulling out the reflective shine of the brass.
