How to Reset the Anti-Theft Device on a 1994 Ford Explorer

The anti-theft device on your 1994 Ford Explorer can help prevent your SUV from being stolen. The Explorer uses an ignition shut off once the alarm has been activated. The anti-theft device also uses a siren to signal when the alarm has been activated. Since the power to the alarm brain cannot normally be cut (because the doors lock when the alarm is active), you'll need to know how to disarm the alarm system to reset it.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the key into the driver side door lock.

    • 2

Turn the key counterclockwise to unlock the door.

    • 3

Turn the key clockwise to lock the door.

    • 4

Turn the key counterclockwise to unlock the door. The alarm should shut off. If you have not completed the sequence fast enough, you will need to repeat it until the alarm shuts off.
