How to Clean the Inside Glass Door on a Self-Cleaning Oven

Just a little elbow grease will make your oven door sparkle.

A self-cleaning oven may sound like an appliance that does all the hard work for you. While it does take on some of the difficulty associated with cleaning an oven, a self-cleaning oven still requires some hands-on work from you to achieve a sparkling shine. The glass door on the inside of the oven often requires extra attention, as the self-cleaning cycle may burn off large pieces of debris, but a greasy film will often be left behind.

Things You'll Need

• Distilled white vinegar
• Sponge or rag
• Towel
• Household glass cleaner
• Paper towels

Instructions

1. Remove the racks from your oven and set them aside. Close your oven, lock the door and begin the self-cleaning cycle. This may take anywhere from two to six hours, but your oven should turn itself off when the self-cleaning cycle is complete. Wait for your oven to completely cool.

2. Open the oven door. Pour a layer of distilled white vinegar on the inside of the door and let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes.

3. Wipe the area with a sponge or rag, removing all of the vinegar and scrubbing any stained spots.

4. Rinse the inside of the oven door with clean, cool water and dry it with a towel to avoid water spots.

5. If any tough spots remain, clean the inside of the oven door with a household glass cleaner and paper towels.
