Go to your laptop and right-click on the folder that you want to copy your PC files to. You will see a tab labeled Sharing. There is a checkbox that is labeled Keep This Folder Private. Uncheck that box and return to your desktop.

Set up a home network if you have not done this already. Go to Start, Control Panel and Network Connections. There is a home network wizard that will create the workgroup and allow you to name the computer. Repeat this process on the laptop, ensuring that you use the same workgroup name.

Go to My Network Places, and you will see the folder that you shared on the laptop. Navigate to the folder containing the documents that you wish to transfer from the PC, and drag them to the laptop.
Transfer Documents with USB Flash Drive

Plug your USB flash drive into the PC's USB port. A USB flash drive is a small solid state memory drive with a USB interface. It is a small and portable option for file storage and transfer.

6
Bring up the "Start" menu, and access My Computer. Find the new drive letter--this should be your USB flash drive. Open it, and bring up another Explorer window with the documents that you need to copy.

7
Drag the files to the USB flash drive's window, and after the transfer is complete, remove the USB flash drive.
-

Insert the USB flash drive into the laptop. Find the drive letter in My Computer, and then move the files from the key onto the desired folder on the laptop.
