How to Remove a Spring Clamp From a Hose
Hoses employ the use of clamps to secure the hose to a port. More and more manufacturers are now using spring clamps rather than standard screw-type clamps. This is because spring clamps will constantly adjust to the expansion and contraction of a rubber hose. You can remove a spring clamp from a hose once you know how the clamp works. The clamp is a single piece of metal that wraps around itself, creating the spring action. Does this Spark an idea?

Channel lock pliers work effectively to remove spring clamps. Grab the outer ends of the spring clamp with the jaws of a pair of channel lock pliers. Professional mechanics refer to the clamp ends as "ears" due to their design.
-
2
Press the "ears" together to provide slack in the spring clamp. This will in effect open the spring clamp diameter around the hose.

3
Pull the spring clamp down the hose away from the port the hose connects, then release the "ears."
-
4
Pull the hose off the port, then slide the spring clamp off the hose.
