Instructions

1
Decide what height the curio cabinet is to be hung at. Make a mark on the wall where the bottom of the cabinet will rest.
-
2
Lay a level horizontally against the wall. First find level, then draw a light pencil line along the edge of it.
-
-
3
Hold a stud finder against the wall to locate at least two wall studs where the line is drawn on the wall. Mark the location of the studs on the wall.
-
4
Screw a length of 1 by 3-inch pine board to the wall. Line the top edge up with the pencil line. Screw through the board into each of the two wall studs.
-
5
Lift the curio cabinet up with the help of another person and set the back on the top of the 1 by 3-inch board. Position it so the back of the cabinet spans the two wall studs. Mark on the inside back wall of the curio cabinet where the studs are.
-
6
Dill two holes for each stud through the back of the cabinet and into the wall stud. Place one hole about 6-inches down from the top of the cabinet and the second one 6-inches up from the bottom of the cabinet. Repeat for the second stud.
-
7
Place a wood screw in each hole and screw them into the wall studs but not all the way. Leave about 1/2-inch of each screw sticking out from the back wall of the curio cabinet.
-
8
Check the cabinet for plumb. Hold a level vertically on a front vertical face of the cabinet. Check to the see that the bubble in the tube is sitting in the center of it. If it's not, slide wood shims between the wall and the back of the cabinet until the level reads plumb. Do this on both sides of the cabinet.
-
9
Screw the screws in tight to the back of the cabinet which will clamp the wood shims firmly in place. Take a utility knife with a sharp blade and trim off the shims even with the sides of the cabinet.
-
10
Unscrew the 1 by 3-inch board from below the cabinet.
