Curb appeal does not matter as much on a home you intend to live in all your life; but it does matter when you are in the market to sell your home. Even if you are planning to live in your home for many years to come, you can dress up the front of your home to draw attention and adoring looks from neighbors and passers-by. Curb appeal is not just for landscaping, house paint and porches; you can also add curb appeal to the roof of a small porch in a few different ways. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Use strong metal hooks to hang flower baskets from the porch eaves. You will need a drill and a drill bit for this process and will need to use a drill bit that matches the size of the metal hooks you are installing. Evenly space the hooks to allow room for the flowers or ferns in the baskets to hang over the sides of baskets without touching; consider placing one hanging basket between each set of porch posts.

2
Place either ferns or potted flowers into the hanging baskets. If desired, you may purchase pre-potted hanging baskets or recycle old ones. Ferns and petunias are commonly placed in hanging baskets, though you can hang any potted flower or plant of your choice in the baskets.

Hang one or two wind chimes from the eaves of the porch as well to create curb appeal that is not only visual, but also musical. You may make your own wind chimes or purchase factory-made chimes. Bright colors or colors that match your home will draw the most attention to the porch area.

Mount a metal barn star onto the peak of a porch roof for curb appeal. To do this you will need to choose a metal barn star in your choice of color, and size and mount the piece with included hardware or with a few nails and screws.
