Instructions

    • 1

Update your virus protection software. If you already have virus protection software installed on your computer, update the software. After you update the software, reboot the computer.

    • 2

Run a virus scan. When the computer reboots, open your anti-virus program and run a scan for any virus that might be on your system. When the scan completes, follow the instructions for removing any virus that might have been found.

Start your computer in safe mode. In the event that the virus will not allow you to run your anti-virus software, reboot the computer into the safe mode. The safe mode is a diagnostic mode of your computer that disables any non-essential programs. To access this, while booting your computer, press the "F8" key repeatedly on your keyboard. This will open a diagnostic screen that allows you to select the option to open in safe mode. Choose this option and once in safe mode, run the virus scan. After the virus scan, follow virus removal instructions on the screen.
