Save

On a computer network, users can share a variety of resources, such as applications and printers, and even play multiplayer games together. Two computers can connect directly through a crossover cable. This simple connection can be configured easily for a multiplayer game of Age of Empires.

Things You'll Need

  • Crossover cable
  • Install the game on both computers. Follow onscreen instructions to complete installation.

  • Connect the computers with the crossover cable. Plug each end of the cable into the network port of each computer.

  • Click the Start button on one computer and select "Control Panel."

  • Select "Network" and choose "Network and Sharing Center."

  • Click the "Unidentified Network" icon.

  • Look for icons for both computers in the network window. This indicates that the computers are connected.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the icons are not visible in Step 6, it is possible that network discovery and file sharing has been turned off. To turn it on, click the dialog box containing the message "Network discovery and file sharing are turned off. Network computers and devices are not visible. Click to change..."
