How to Draw a BMW Car

Drawing is a great outlet for creativity and a great way to use your imagination. Learn to use a framework that will allow you to draw any BMW car you want to and use reference in conjunction with your imagination to add accuracy to your drawings.

Things You'll Need

• Pencils
• Fine-liner or ballpoint pen
• A4 white paper (standard printer paper available everywhere)
• Felt-tip pens, crayons, marker pens or paints
• Eraser
• Pencil sharpener

Instructions

1. Find images from magazines or the Internet of the BMW car you want to draw. Try to find as many images as you can and take note of all the car's details and its design so you can draw it accurately.

2. Break down the car into basic shapes, such as circles, triangles, squares and rectangles, and draw them in pencil on your paper as a guide. Remember to draw faint lines in case you need to erase them.

3. Using the reference, build up the mass of the car in more detail around the basic shapes. Keep the pencil lines faint in case you need to erase them and try to sketch with long, flowing lines as opposed to short choppy lines.

4. Add the various curves and indentations to the chassis of your car and add the specific details that make the car a BMW. You should be left with a faint pencil sketch of your car.

5. Take your fine liner and draw over the pencil lines you want to keep. Take care while doing this as mistakes can't be erased. Let the pen ink dry for a few moments before erasing the pencil lines underneath to avoid any smudging. You should be left with a clean line drawing of a BMW car.

6. Use your marker pens, felt tip pens, paints or crayons to add some color to the vehicle and complete your drawing.

• Good quality marker pens can add a level of professionalism to your image

• Try using a mechanical pencil for clean lines

• Keep your sketching lines smooth and flowing

• Don't trace the reference, simply refer to it, when you need to, for accuracy

• Pens can leak so be aware of this
