How to Create Business Check Stubs
Employers give employees check stubs so they understand the specifics of their payment. The check stub typically lists the employee's current and year-to-date deductions and earnings. There are various methods that a business can use to create check stubs.
Instructions

Create Online
-
1
Visit Paycheckcity.com and view the three options: basic, professional or private label. Each option includes a calculator that calculates the earnings and deductions based on your input.
-
2
Choose from the three options. The basic package allows you to prepare a salary or hourly check stub free without registration. The professional package (free with registration) includes local tax look-up, up to 10 voluntary deductions and custom printing features. The private label option, for which a fee is charged, includes calculators designed to include your company brand.
-
-
3
Print your check stub using either the basic, professional or private label option.
Use Payroll Software
-
4
Purchase payroll software, if you process your payroll in-house. Choose the system that best suits your needs. If you have accounting and payroll tasks, use an accounting system with an attached payroll feature such as Peachtree. If you need more payroll features, use stand-alone software such as Pensoft. If your payroll is large and you need HR features, use a system such as Ultipro.
-
5
Make sure the payroll software enables direct deposit and check-stub printing.
-
6
Test the check-stub print feature before you run the payroll. This helps to identify problems with the feature before you actually process the payroll.
Use Spreadsheet Program
-
7
Create a template using a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. Include your business information such as company name, contact, and logo at the top of the spreadsheet.
-
8
Make headings for the check-stub template. The headings should include the employee's name, pay rate, pay-period end date, regular hours, overtime hours, regular pay, overtime pay, involuntary deductions such as taxes, voluntary deductions such as health benefits, gross pay, and net pay. Insert borders around the page.
-
9
Enter the check-stub information based on the employee's paycheck. Before you begin using the template, choose "Save as" to save the template under a different name and to keep it blank.
