How to Connect Multiple Monitors to My Laptop

Connecting multiple monitors to your laptop to increase productivity.

Using multiple computer displays increases productivity. A study by NEC reported in "The New York Times" found "that people who used two 20-inch monitors were 44 percent more productive at certain text-editing operations than people using a single 18-inch monitor." Most laptops only have one external video port. To use more than one external monitor, you will need to use one or more of the USB ports on your laptop.

Things You'll Need

• USB to DVI Adapter
• USB cord

Instructions

1. Connect the first monitor to the laptop using the cable included with the monitor and the external video port.

2. Plug the cable of the second monitor into the DVI end of the USB to DVI adapter. Plug one end of the USB cord into the USB end of the adapter.

3. Connect the second monitor to one of the laptop's USB ports with the free end of the USB cord.
