How to Make Crocs Waterproof

Crocs brand shoes were originally designed for use on boats and outdoors with a non-slip sole and easy-to-wash exterior. The shoes soon gained popularity for warm-weather use by men, women and children. While the original Crocs style is waterproof by design, other lines of Crocs shoes are not manufactured to be waterproof. Check the shoe material before waterproofing – if the shell of the shoe is made out of a flexible plastic, it is already waterproof. If made out of other material, including cloth or suede, the shoes are not waterproof. There are a few steps to take when making Crocs shoes waterproof. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Take the Crocs shoes outside or to a well-ventilated area and set on old newspaper or another surface that can be discarded after use.

    • 2

Grab one Crocs shoe in one hand and water-repellent spray in the other hand. Water-repellent spray is available at many grocery stores, hardware stores or drugstores. One brand name is 3M.

    • 3

Spray the entire Crocs shoe evenly with the water-repellant spray. Only lightly cover the fabric with the spray–do not saturate.

    • 4

Repeat step 3 for the other Crocs shoe.

    • 5

Set the Crocs down on the newspaper to dry. Allow to dry for 24 hours before using. Set shoes inside if there is a possibility the shoes may get wet or dirty while drying outside.
