If you choose to have one type of wood fence in the front yard and another in the back, it is easy to combine the two. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Determine where the two fences will come together and mark this area with a wood stake. Complete the installation as you normally would for both fences until you get to this point.
-
2
Dig a single hole that will accommodate both end posts for each fence. These two end posts will be installed directly next to each other, so the posts should be flush. The hole will be at least two feet wide, assuming each end post is the standard 4-inch by 4-inch size.

3
Set the two fence posts into the hole at the same time. Level them using a carpenter's level and then pour your cement foundation around the posts. As the cement dries, use the carpenter's level to ensure they remain straight.

Once the cement foundation is dry, run the rest of the fencing panels to the end posts on each side, and connect the fencing to the posts as you would do in a normal installation.
