Blanket the walls with rock 'n' roll concert posters--anything from Jimi Hendrix to Rolling Stones to the Grateful Dead is ideal. Intersperse record decals and banners with musical notes among the posters, adding sundry rock and roll cut-outs.

Suspend silver tinsel and plastic or paper records from the ceiling, chandelier-style. Other ceiling décor ideas include balloons shaped like guitars and records as well as piñatas.

5
Establish the 'backstage vibe' by scattering copies of Rolling Stone, Vibe and Spin magazines on tabletops. Another idea is to purchase collections of oversized 1950s sunglass (cat-eye sunglasses are especially fun), or black, Elvis-like sunglasses and place them here and there.

Take a cue from the scene in the Spinal Tap mockumentary when the rockers lampoon the extreme food demands common to the backstage concert scene. Mimic the Van Halen incident and have bowls filled with M&M's, minus the brown ones. Or, channel Mariah Carey's inner-diva by serving Cristal champagne and Evian. For more choices, consider Christina Aguilera's request for Flintstone vitamins or Aerosmith's appetite for corn on the cob. For the truly ambitious, there is always Are you Hungry Tonight?, a compilation of Elvis's favorite recipes.

7
Burn CDs in advance filled with rock music. If the party is to be small and with only a selective group of friends, try to personalize each disc. If the gala is more grandiose, simply burn songs based on genre or era.
