How to Troubleshoot a Sansa E260R

The Sansa E260R MP3 player allows users to store and play their favorite songs and other audio files. The E260R works well under most conditions, but users may occasionally encounter problems with the device, such as the player freezing or audio files failing to play. These problems are common and are not serious. Users often can fix the problems themselves by troubleshooting the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Reset the E260R if the MP3 player freezes during operation. To reset the device, press and hold the "Menu" button on the bottom left corner of the device until the screen turns off. This will take approximately 15 seconds.

    • 2

Format the E260R if the player freezes often or if the MP3 player frequently does not operate as expected. To format the player, press the "Menu" button to access the main menu and select "More" from the list of options. Select "Settings/Options" and then "System Settings." Choose "Format" and then select "Yes" at the warning prompt. This process will delete all of your music and settings and return the MP3 player to the factory settings.

    • 3

Check the type of music file for songs that will not play on the Sansa E260R. The device only supports MP3, WMA and secure WMA music files. If the song is in any other file format, you will need to obtain a different version of the song or convert the song to the proper format.

Ensure that you have purchased the rights to play your song on an MP3 device if a song you want to listen to is listed in the E260R but will not play. You can often check if you have the rights to the song by opening your music management program on your computer. Purchase the rights to the song if you haven't already, and upload it to your E260R.
