How to Convert Access 2003 to SQL Server 2005
Microsoft Access is a small database engine that is used in small to large businesses. For businesses that expand and need faster processing, Microsoft SQL Server is available, which supports more concurrent requests. SQL Server is used for web and desktop applications. The software has an import wizard that is used to convert an Access database to the local SQL Server.

Click the Windows Start button and select "All Programs." In the list of program directories displayed, select "SQL Server 2005" and then click "Import and Export Data." This opens the wizard that guides you through the process.

Click the "Next" button at the opening window. The next window is a template where you configure the source location. Choose "Microsoft Access" in the drop-down labeled "Data Source." Click the "Browse" button and select the location of your Access database. In the "Username" and "Password" text boxes, enter these values if a user name and password is required to access the database file. Click the "Next" button.

Select "SQL Server" in the next screen, which is the destination template for the imported tables. Enter the database name in the drop-down box. You can also choose "New" to create a new database during the import process. Click the "Next" button.

Select "Copy data from one or more tables or views" and click the "Next" button. The next window displays a list of tables programmed in the Access database file. Select all these tables or pick and choose which tables you want to import. Click the "Next" button.

Select "Run Immediately" and click the "Finish" button. This imports the Access tables immediately to your SQL Server. A final summary screen is displayed that gives you statistics including how many rows were imported and if any errors occurred.
