How to Remove the Blue Star Virus

How to Remove the Blue Star Virus thumbnail
Blue Star is a computer virus.

The Blue Star virus is a computer virus that places the words "Blue Star" at the top of every window used in the Windows operating system. Like all computer viruses, the Blue Star virus will reproduce itself and may slow your computer, damage your data, decrease your available memory and disable certain legitimate programs. Fortunately, the Windows operating system provides tools to help remove the Blue Star virus.

Instructions

  1. Update Windows

    • 1

      Click on the "Start" menu.

    • 2

Click on "All Programs," and then click on "Windows Update."

    • 3

Click on "Check for Updates," and then click on "Install Updates." Windows updates are important because they often include security updates which help your computer to fight and recover from viruses and worms.

    Run Your Antivirus Program

    • 4

Open your antivirus program. If you do not have an antivirus program, consider downloading Windows Defender or AVG (see resources below). Windows Defender and AVG are free antivirus programs.

    • 5

Update your antivirus program. Most antivirus programs include an "Update" or "Check for Updates" button. Keeping your antivirus program up to date is important because new computer viruses are created every day.

    • 6

Run a full scan of your computer using your antivirus program. Most antivirus programs give you the option of running a full scan or a quick scan. A full scan will search your entire computer for the Blue Star virus. On the other hand, a quick scan will only search the areas where viruses are most-commonly found.
