How to Make a Stuffed Animal Bunny
Make a stuffed animal bunny using a sock that has lost it's mate. This bunny project creates a cuddly toy for a child or a primitive decoration for your home. Gather your family for an afternoon of quality time, or prepare the materials for a birthday activity to craft stuffed animal bunnies. The style and color of the sock and the personality of the creator will determine the spirit and character of each bunny doll.

1
Turn a woman's or teenage girl's crew or knee sock inside out. Place it on your work surface, with the heel facing up. Centered on the toe, cut for 5 inches through both layers of the sock toward the heel. This creates two ears for the bunny.
-
2
Pin the cut edges of each ear together. Sew the pinned edges using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Turn the bunny right side out.
-
-
3
Stuff the sock, using small bunches of stuffing at a time. This will prevent lumps from forming. Stuff the sock to the desired size of your bunny.
-
4
Cut off the remainder of the sock. Thread a 4-inch soft sculpture doll needle. Fold a 1/2 inch of the open sock to the inside. Sew a running stitch around the opening of the sock, through the 1/2-inch folded edge. Pull the thread to gather the opening closed. Knot the thread to secure. Do not cut the thread.
-
5
Insert the point of the needle through the center of the gathers, up through the body and out the back of the bunny's neck. Pull slightly until the bottom of the bunny is flat. Knot the thread at the neck and cut. Note: The heel of the sock is the muzzle part of the bunny's face. The neck is right below the muzzle.

6
Apply a dab of craft glue to a 1/4-inch pink pompom. Center it on the muzzle of the bunny. Apply craft glue to the back of two 3/8-inch diameter flat black buttons for the bunny eyes. Position the buttons above the nose, as desired. Allow the glue to dry.
-
7
Dip a stencil brush in pink acrylic paint. Rub the brush into a paper towel to remove most of the paint. Dab the brush on the cheeks of the bunny.
-
8
Cut an 18-inch length of 1/4-inch wide ribbon. Wrap the ribbon around the bunny's neck and tie it into a bow. Trim the ribbon ends.

Tips & Warnings
If making the stuffed animal bunny for a baby or small child, sew felt circles for the eyes and nose instead of using buttons and pompoms.
