How to Change the "Final Fantasy 7" PC Controls
SquareSoft’s 1998 PC role-playing game “Final Fantasy VII” is part of the popular “Final Fantasy” franchise. The game features an epic science fiction-flavored fantasy quest as players assume the role of a soldier named Cloud Strife to save the world from powerful forces of the evil Shinra corporation. The default controller settings of “Final Fantasy VII” require use of the keyboard’s numeric pad or a PC game controller, but the game offers options to change these controls.

Access the “Menu” screen during the game.

Select “Config.”

Select “Controller” followed by “Customize.” This will bring up two columns: one for keyboard settings and one for game controller settings.

Choose either the "Keyboard" column or the "Joystick" column depending on which control you're using.

Select the button action you want to change, and then press the button you want to assign to the action.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to return to the default controller settings, simply return to the “Config” screen and select “Normal” instead of “Customize."
Customizing your controls may result in difficulty performing select actions in some of the game's minigames. If a problem arises, go back to the default control settings.
