How to Program an RCA DirecTV Remote RCR160SBM1

DirecTV is a company that provides satellite television service. In order to access television programs using DirecTV, you must first set up a satellite receiver. This is an electronic device that connects your TV to the satellite service. One company that manufactures DirecTV receivers is RCA. The RCA RCR160SBM1 is the remote that comes with your RCA satellite receiver. You can program your RCA DirecTV remote to control other devices besides your satellite receiver--for example, a TV, DVD player, VCR or stereo.

  • Turn on the electronic device you want to program. Use the device's original remote control or press the "Power" button on the device.

  • Find the brand and code number for the device you are attempting to program in the back of your user manual. See the Resources section for a link to the manual.

  • Press and hold down the device key for the device you want to program. For example, if you want to program your remote to sync with your DVD player, press the "DVD" key.

  • While holding the key, enter the code you found from the manual while holding down the device key. The LED light on the device key flashes four times when you've entered the code correctly.

  • Release the device key and press the "On/Off" button on the remote. The device you programmed your remote to control will turn off.
