How to Get Luigi & Wario in Super Mario 64 DS

Super Mario 64 DS is basically a remake of the Nintendo 64 classic of the same name. Not satisfied with simply porting the original game to handheld form, however, Nintendo added in a number of new features. Chief among these is the ability to play as characters other than Mario. You'll actually be in control of Yoshi when you first start the game. You'll find Mario early on and return the game to normal, but as you play through, you can eventually unlock Luigi and Wario as well.

Instructions

  1. Unlock Luigi

    • 1

Enter course five, "Big Boo's Haunt."

    • 2

Complete the first goal by defeating all the Boos in the courtyard to unlock the staircase.

    • 3

Use Mario to climb the staircase and use the fire flower to float to the room above.

    • 4

Jump into the painting of Luigi and battle the boss, Big Boo. Defeat him to get the Luigi Key and free Luigi. You'll now be able to play as Luigi wherever you find a green Luigi hat lying around.

    Unlock Wario

    • 5

Enter course ten, "Snowman's Land," as Luigi--after you've collected 30 stars and fought Bowser twice.

    • 6

Find the Luigi painting on the left. You'll notice a nearby mirror, and in the reflection you'll see Luigi's painting is actually Wario.

    • 7

Use the nearby flower to turn Luigi invisible and walk through the mirror, into the Wario painting.

    • 8

Defeat the boss, Chief Chilly, to claim the key to Wario's room and free Wario. You'll now be able to play as Wario wherever you find a yellow Wario hat lying around.
