How to Use an Air Mattress Patch Kit
An air mattress is a good investment. You use it as an extra bed for company in your home or as a comfortable sleeping surface while camping. Simply blow it up with an air pump and you've created an instant bed; however, because the material of an air mattress is often thin, it is not uncommon for a leak to occur after extended use. 1
Blow up the mattress with an air pump. Lie down on the mattress and listen for a stream of air escaping the mattress. Roll from side to side to apply more pressure to individual areas if you have trouble hearing the leak.
-
2
Use a paint brush to coat mattress with a thin layer of soapy water if leak was not detected by lying on the mattress. Press on mattress and look for soap bubbles to form over the leak.

3
Use a piece of tape to mark the leak. Dry and deflate the mattress.
-
4
Remove tape from leak. Apply liquid sealer from the patch kit. Coat the leak three to five times with sealer allowing each coat to dry for 5 to 10 minutes before applying the next coat.
-
5
Add a patch to the leak. Cut patch to fit with scissors, and place it onto leak. Apply a coat of liquid sealer over top of the patch. Allow to dry completely.
