How to Get Super Powers on Poptropica

In "Poptropica," you play as a character you design yourself, and explore several islands that make up the world. Each of these islands have different themes and rewards. For example, on Super Power island, it's possible to get your own superpower: the ability to fly. After you unlock it, you'll need it to continue the adventure on Super Power Island--by capturing the final escaped villain.

Instructions

  1. The Hunt Begins

    • 1

      Visit the Poptropica website and login or create your character. Land on Super Power Island.

      Walk into the comic shop and look for Ned Noodlehead. Talk to him and he'll give you the "Superhero Handbook."

      Head into the Masks and Capes shop and speak with the shopkeeper. He will give you your official Superhero ID, and then let you create a superhero costume of your own. You can click any of the dummies to pilfer parts of their outfits to make a super costume.

      Leave the store and walk left until you reach the jail. You'll have to swim out to the island. Speak with the people there, especially the warden, who will give you the "Super Villain" files, and anti-power handcuffs. You are now on the hunt for super villains. You need to capture five in order to unlock the ability to fly.

    Capturing Villains

      Go into the bank and walk left to see Copy Cat copy herself and drop a smoke bomb. In order to capture her, you need to run into each of the copies to make them disappear, then capture the real Copy Cat by running into her. This seems easy, but is made challenging by the smoke bomb, which is cutting off your air supply--so do it quickly, or you'll be sent back to the entrance and have to start again. When you capture Copy Cat, you'll bring up an issue of the "Daily Paper" saying you have caught her, and you'll land outside the jail.

      Stroll down to the subway and enter the train there. Head to the right until you see Speeding Spike. He's hard to catch because of his speed, but you can jump out of the way. Avoid him a few times, and he'll run into the next car. Repeat this process until he heads into the first car. When Spike slips on a puddle, you can cuff him and send him back to jail.

      Look for Sir Rebral in the City park. Find the large, round rock, which you can move. As you explore the park, you'll notice the ground keeps shooting up in places. Deposit the rock on one of these spots, and aim it for Sir Rebral. This may take a few tries, but once he's hit, you can handcuff him and bring him to justice.

      Locate the public restroom inside the city park, and crawl through the hole inside. This brings you to the sewers, where you will find Ratman. Look for a red wheel and turn it to lower the water. Head for the next red wheel, which you can turn to raise the water again. Swim across to the door, and head inside the door to the sewer room. Inside, Ratman will be guarded by his rats and flies. Avoid the rats and climb to the top-right to turn another wheel to soak Ratman, which will send his flies after you. They'll attack you, slowing you down, but as soon as you clamber over to Ratman, you will catch him.

      Head back through the city park to the Junkyard where Crusher is hiding out. Climb up the trash pile, past Crusher, and to the top of the crane. He makes it challenging by stomping the ground, which can knock you backwards. When you reach the cabin of the crane, click the levers and bring them down to release the fridge onto Crusher's head. He'll throw the fridge at you, sending you back to the ground. Climb to the top of the crane again, avoiding the barrels he throws at you, and bring the lever back up to crush him under the car he's standing on. Then, he's all yours: capture him to unlock flying power.

    The Ability to Fly

      Leave the jail after capturing the fifth villain, and walk to the Daily Paper building.

      Climb to the top of the Daily Paper building and speak with the old superhero there.

      Climb back down to the street and head for the phone booth. When the phone rings, answer it and the power of flight will be unlocked for you.

      Click the Flight icon in the lower-left corner of the screen to activate your flying power. Click again to deactivate it.
