How to Make a Sailor Scout Costume
Sailor scouts are young female superheroes from the anime series "Sailor Moon." Each sailor scout wears a similar uniform with a different color combination. When deciding on which sailor scout you would like to dress as, you may want to take each scout's hair color or hair style into consideration to eliminate the need to wear a wig with your costume. Refer to a picture of the sailor scout as you create the costume to ensure that you use the appropriate colors of embellishments for her costume.

- White V-neck shirt
- Tennis skirt
- 2 large bows
- Hot glue gun
- 2 oval-shaped beads
- Safety pins
- Fabric
- White dress gloves
- Gold ribbon

Purchase a white V-neck shirt and a pleated tennis skirt or cheer-leading skirt in the appropriate color for your chosen sailor scout. These items are the base of your sailor scout costume.

Purchase two large bows for your costume or make the bows using 5 feet of 2- to 3- inch wide ribbon. Form two large loops in the ribbon and tie them together in the same way you would tie your shoes. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your bow, untie it and try again until you are satisfied.

Hot-glue an oval-shaped bead or a large oval-shaped rhinestone to the center of the bows.

Attach one bow to the front of the white shirt at the bottom of the neckline with safety pins.

Attach the second bow to the back center waistband of your skirt with safety pins.

Cut two bands approximately 1 inch wide from a fabric in the same color as your skirt and sew these bands around the top of a pair of elbow length, white dress gloves.

Cut another piece of the same fabric from Step 7 into a 30-inch by 12-inch rectangle. While wearing the white shirt, drape the rectangle over your shoulders and safety pin two corners of the fabric to the center of the neckline underneath the large bow. Use additional pins to secure this collar along the length of the neckline. A small section of the collar should hang down on your back to resemble a miniature cape.

Purchase a wig to match the hair color and style of the sailor scout, if necessary.

Fold an 8-inch long piece of 1-inch wide gold ribbon into a V shape. Glue the ribbon along the fold to hold the shape. Glue a rhinestone to the center of the ribbon to form the tiara of your sailor scout costume. Attach the tiara to your hair or the front of your wig with bobby pins so that the tiara lies flat against your forehead.

Wear shoes of the same color as your chosen sailor scout. Do not worry if you cannot find the exact same type of shoes; as long as you find the correct color your costume will look fine.
