Instructions for Making a Beeswax Lantern
Beeswax candle lanterns add beauty and elegance to any room. They may look difficult to make, but it is in fact very easy to successfully create one. When making a candle lamp, it is helpful to use only beeswax. Beeswax will burn clean, will not leave a toxic residue on clothing and furniture, and smells sweet like honey. If you find that you enjoy making beeswax candle lanterns, you can give them as gifts to family and friends.

1
Fill the bottom of a double boiler halfway up with water. Place 1 lb. of beeswax into the top portion of the double boiler. Heat the double boiler over medium heat until the wax completely melts.

2
Fill a balloon with water under the faucet. Tie off the water-filled balloon. Dip the water-filled balloon into the melted wax, lifting it out after two seconds and placing the balloon onto a plate to cool. This will give a flat bottom to the candle lantern. Wait for two minutes, then dip the balloon into the wax again, lifting it out after two seconds. Repeat this process until the wax shell on the water-filled balloon is about 1/2-inch thick.

Once the beeswax shell has completely cooled and hardened, pop the balloon with a straight pin over a sink. Drain out the water, and remove the balloon. Turn the beeswax lantern upside down onto a towel to dry.

Once dry, turn the beeswax lantern right side up, and use a torch lighter to slightly melt a small area in the center of the lantern. Once the area has melted slightly, place a beeswax tea light candle onto the area. Hold the candle in place until the wax has cooled once again and the candle is secured to the beeswax lantern. You can now light the beeswax tea light candle and enjoy the beauty of your beeswax lantern.
