Homemade Halloween Witch Costumes for Kids

Create a homemade witch costume for your little one on Halloween

Halloween means fun, friends and candy for most American children. Aside from which streets to hit on Halloween night, the most difficult choice for children is which costume to wear. Many times, the best and most cost effective costume is a classic, such as a witch. A scary or silly witch costume can be constructed at home with a few easy to locate materials. These witch costumes will cast a spell on your children that will make this Halloween a night to remember.

• Black shawl
• Cotton balls
• Cardboard
• Spray paint
• Spray glue
• Plastic spiders and bugs
• White tube socks
• Green tape
• Black long sleeved shirt
• Black knee length skirt
• Black shoes
• Witch hat
• Fake warts
• Black nail polish
• Black lipstick
• Broom
• Black cape
• Iron-on appliques
• Iron
• Bright pink ribbon
• Fabric glue
• Scissors
• Black permanent marker
• Pink long sleeve shirt
• Black fingernail polish
• Bright pink fingernail polish
• Fake witch nose
• Over-sized sunglasses

Instructions

Spiderweb Witch

1. Purchase a black shawl.

2. Pull a few cotton balls apart to create spider webs. Lay the webs out on a piece of cardboard and spray paint them gray. Allow the webs to dry.

3. Lay the black shawl out on a piece of cardboard and cover the bottom of it with spray glue. Stick the cobwebs onto the area of the shawl that is covered with spray glue. Spread the cobwebs out to create a more realistic appearance. Glue fake spiders into the cobwebs as well.

4. Wrap green tape around a pair of white tube socks to create a stripped appearance.

5. Dress the child in a black long sleeved shirt, a knee length black skirt, the socks, black shoes and a witch hat.

6. Paint the child's face green with Halloween paint and glue on a few fake warts. Place black nail polish onto the child's nail and black lipstick on her lips.

7. Tie the shawl carefully around the child's neck and give her a small broom to fly on into the night.

Modern Pink Witch

1. Purchase a black cape from a Halloween supply store. Place iron-on skull and flower appliqués on the inside of the cape. Iron the pictures on by placing the warm iron onto the appliqué for several seconds. Spread the pictures out all over the cape.

2. Cut two pieces of bright pink ribbon long enough to wrap around each leg of a pair of child's jeans. Wrap the ribbon around the leg of each jean, gluing it to the jeans as you go up with fabric glue.

3. Write Halloween phrases such as "BOO" and "TRICK OR TREAT" all over the jeans with black permanent markers.

4. Dress the child in the cape, the jeans, a pink long sleeved shirt and a black witch hat.

5. Paint the child's finger nails black on one hand and bright pink on the other. Place a pair of over-sized sunglasses and a fake witch's nose onto the child.
