How to Troubleshoot a Logitech Xbox Controller

If you're using a Logitech wireless controller with your Microsoft Xbox 360 home video game console, your unit could give you trouble for a few different reasons. Though wireless controllers allow you greater freedom to move around a room while playing games, they also have a greater number of things that could interfere with the signal being transmitted between your Xbox 360 and the controller.

Make sure the battery pack is properly inserted to the rear of your Logitech Xbox 360 wireless controller. The battery pack is necessary to power the device, and if the batteries aren't inserted properly, the controller will not work. Also make sure that the AA batteries in the battery pack still work.

Make sure your Logitech Xbox 360 wireless controller is properly connected to your Xbox 360. Press the "Connect" button on the front of the Xbox 360 and then press the "Connect" button on the top of the wireless controller. This will sync both devices, allowing them to communicate with one another. If this step does not occur, then your Logitech Xbox 360 controller will not work.

Turn off your Xbox 360 and turn it back on again. Doing so will reset the memory of your game console (which has the same effect as restarting a computer). Any errors your Logitech controller was giving you because of an error in the Xbox's system memory will be cleared, and the controller will work again.

Make sure no other device is interfering with your Logitech Xbox 360 wireless controller. Devices like wireless Internet routers, microwave ovens and even certain portable telephones that use specific frequencies can interfere with a wireless controller connection. Remove these items from the room that your Xbox 360 and wireless controller are in and try using your controller again.
