How to Take Off Ripstik Plates

The Ripstik is a skateboard that propels its user forward in a wavelike fashion. This board sport has gained popularity with the younger crowd. As more Ripstiks are sold, many riders feel the need to customize the look of their boards to stand out. The most visible parts of the Ripstik are the plates. Ripstik riders everywhere have started trading plates and painting their own to have their very own customized Ripstik. The first step to customizing the Ripstik plates is to remove them.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the seven screws on the bottom of the Ripstik.

    • 2

Insert your standard screwdriver into a tab of the faceplate. The tabs can be found on the side of the plates closest to the torsion bar.

    • 3

Apply pressure to the standard screwdriver until you hear the plate click. This click signifies that part of the plate has come loose. Do this for both visible tabs.

    • 4

Pull the plate off the Ripstik, starting from the loosened end. The entire plate will come off in one piece.

Tips & Warnings

  • When applying pressure with the standard screwdriver, apply pressure away from your body. If the screwdriver slips, you want it to move away from you and not toward your body.

  • Once the tabs are loosened, pull gently. Pulling the plates off does not require a great amount of force; using too much could crack your Ripstik plate.
