How to Make a Fun Display Board for Science Projects
While the subject of science rarely affords the opportunity for creativity, young scientists do have the opportunity to use their artistic skills when designing a science fair display board. A science fair display board must clearly communicate information about the science experiment, but should do so in an engaging and aesthetically pleasing manner. By creating an attractive display board, you can allow the audience at the science fair to see your artistic talent and your impressive scientific knowledge.

1
Use a tri-fold board so that your presentation board stands alone. A high quality tri-fold board is the first step to creating a nice presentation. Purchase a foam or corrugated cardboard tri-fold board to use for your science display.
-
2
Create a title with pre-cut letters. Buy brightly colored or iridescent letters to decorate your board. These neat and attention-getting letters will likely draw attention to your creative display.

3
Place a border around the board. Purchase a border from an office supply store, and place this around your board. Seek a border that contains images germane to your topic. For example, if your explored flower growth, rim your board with a floral border.
-
4
Place short sections of text on the board. Do not clutter your board with too much verbiage. Instead, compose short sections of text to explain your experiment. Type these sections up, and print them onto paper, then cut around them to create rectangles of words to add to your board.
-
5
Decorate with product packaging. If you used a product, such as potato chips in your experiment, place this packaging on your board. Glue or tape the packaging down neatly so your board doesn't look cluttered with trash.
-
6
Include photos of the experiment. As you conduct your experiment, snap photos. Place these pictures on your board so that spectators can see the experiment in action.
-
7
Add colorful graphs. Data tables are boring to viewers. Make the information more interesting by creating graphs of data. Input your data into excel, and use the program to create attractive charts. Place the charts on your board so that viewers can see your results.
-
8
Use care when gluing down the presentation board elements. If your board is sloppily glued, all of your hard work will be in vain. Use a glue stick, and neatly glue each element down. Wash your hands frequently during this process to ensure that glue from your fingers does not smudge your project elements. Place a heavy book on top of any glued down elements so that they don't curl and lose their aesthetic value.
