How to Design a Letter Jacket
Design your own letterman jacket to show off the awards you've received from your school for excelling in sports or other activities. Many schools offer letters for academics, varsity sports and extracurricular activities. Your letter jacket should reflect your personality and style, as well as show off your school pride. Most letterman jackets are customized to your specifications, although you can choose how elaborate, flamboyant or spirited it is by designing your own jacket.

1
Choose the company from which you will order your letterman jacket, whether it's a brick-and-mortar company or through the internet. Each company may offer something different as far as customizations go, and they probably have their own process regarding custom orders.
-
2
Pick the style of jacket you want. Traditional letterman jackets are made of wool with leather arms and snap up. You can choose different arms, zippers or a hooded jacket if you prefer.

3
Select a color for the jacket, sleeves and trim that goes around the arms, collar and waistband of the jacket. This is typically your school or business colors.
-
4
Decide what you want on the jacket. Typically, your athletic jersey number or the year of your graduation go on the sleeves, the letter and pins or patches go on the left breast, your first name could go on the front and any additional achievement patches can be sewn onto your sleeves.

5
Design the back of your jacket. This could include your last name, your school or business name or nickname, the mascot or any personalized graphics. For example, you could have a tiger wearing a football helmet, with a basketball under his foot, wearing a baseball jersey and playing the violin if you've lettered in music for excellence in playing the violin, varsity football, basketball, baseball and your school mascot is a tiger.
